In 2003 VTAS won a ten year contract for fleet management and maintenance of the 6,500 items of British Airways’ ground support equipment based at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.
A service level agreement was designed specifically to support the demands of the airside operation, including equipment availability and breakdown response guarantees.
The contract is one of the largest of its kind in the world and included the transfer of 350 personnel from the incumbent supplier under TUPE and the management of eight airside workshops based across the four airports.

The contract includes risk transfer and specific service levels in respect of ground support equipment availability.
